Haldi and Maiyan are all about sunshine, laughter and a little (okay, a lot of) turmeric ♡ They're usually more intimate than the Mehndi, which makes them perfect for decorating at home, in the backyard or under a tent. Here's how to make them bright, photo-ready and easy to clean up.
Go bold with yellow
Yellow is the star of the show. Pair it with:
Red or orange for a bright, traditional Haldi look.
Gold and ivory for a softer, elegant Maiyan.
Green for a fresh, earthy feel with marigolds.
Fresh florals and marigolds
Marigold strands, floral garlands along the top of the backdrop and a few arrangements at the base frame the bride beautifully, and they look amazing up close in photos.
A comfy seat for the bride
The bride will be sitting for a while, so choose a pretty bench, low seat or swing with cushions. Add a small table nearby for the haldi bowls and flowers.
Plan for the mess (in a good way)
Use washable or protected flooring in front of the seat.
Keep the backdrop a little behind the seating so it stays turmeric-free.
Set up outdoors or under a tent if you're expecting a lively crowd.
